Coming up in April is Bendigo’s premier regional event, the annual Bendigo Easter Festival. It’s the oldest and longest running community festival in Australia and brings together people from all over Bendigo’s community and attracts visitors from all over Australia and the globe.

During the four days of the festival there’s more than 50 events and attractions in the city and surrounds. These include live music from electronic beats, to Blues and Roots Showcase, from Balkan folk music to bollywood. A busker’s parade and FReeZA a fantastic supervised drug and alcohol free music event for young people and more.

The markets on offer during the festival include the Rotary Art and Craft Market on Saturday and the Bendigo Showground Sunday Market, with a huge range of products and produce, there’s something for everyone.

The Bendigo Easter Festival food court on Sunday will let you take your taste buds on a journey around the world, whether it’s a snack or a gourmet meal, there will be something to satisfy your taste. Vegan, vegetarian, gluten free as well healthy options are all on offer.

Some of the many art exhibition include an exquisite exhibition of ceramics, paintings and more by local Bendigo artists titled ‘Contemplations’ on show at the visitor centre in Pall Mall. Also a photographic print exhibition displaying over 150 prints from guest photographers and prints from members of the Bendigo Camera Club, a steel sculpture exhibit and many more.

The Motorfest, Model Railway, VW’s On Park Car Show and a display of historic vehicles and collectibles are some of the boys toys events on during the long weekend.

The children’s activities include enormous puppets roving the city, Easter egg hunts, bands and storytellers, jugglers and laugh-givers. Also Kidzone Sunday which is a full day’s program to entertain all ages through a range of activities including music, dance, skating, painting, fire truck rides and carnival rides.

The Bendigo & Districts RSL Torchlight Procession & Fireworks commences at 8pm and is an opportunity for the public to thank all the emergency services for their diligence and hard work throughout the year.

Not to mention magicians, comedy, various workshops, loads of children’s entertainment, dance, skate-park, antiques, hobby displays and fun family community activities. There’s so much on and The Bendigo Easter Festival is a great time to visit and discover the life in remarkable Central Victoria.
